iPhone & MacBook
micro-soldering.
Motherboard · water damage · data recovery. When a device won't power on, took a spill, or has a failed component, the fix lives on the logic board. We repair at the chip level — saving devices and data most shops call a loss.
A decade of experience
Board-level micro-soldering is a rare skill — there are only a handful of people in the Bay Area who do this work professionally. Our lead tech has 10+ years repairing devices other shops write off.
Diagnose, repair & test
We trace the fault on the logic board, repair at the chip level, and fully test before it goes back to you. Most board repairs come back to life in 2–7 business days.
No fix, low risk
Successful micro-soldering repairs are backed by a 3-month warranty (water damage excluded). If we genuinely can't fix it, you owe only a $40 diagnostics fee — or donate the device and we waive it.
What we fix at the chip level
Component-level work on iPhone and MacBook logic boards — the repairs that require special equipment, software, and a steady hand. If you don't see your issue, ask: we take on custom board repairs too.

Board-repair pricing
Prices below are diagnostic ranges for devices with no previous repair attempt — final pricing is confirmed after diagnosis. Don't see your device or issue? Call or text us for a quote.
Water / liquid damage data recovery
$150 – $350If data recovery is possible, your device may or may not be usable after repair — no guarantees. There is no warranty on any water/liquid damaged repair. Liquid-damaged devices are unpredictable: some repairs last years, some last months, and some only a few days. There is no way to predict the lifespan of any liquid-damaged device.
No backlight / no image repair
$100 – $250A no-image failure can be caused by liquid, drops, technician error and more. Diagnostics can take a few hours to a few days.
No power, not charging, not booting up repair
$100 – $250No power can be caused by liquid, impact, aftermarket chargers, or — most commonly — the external USB attachment fans sold almost everywhere. The USB fans short the charge-port IC chip in the phone, which stops it from powering on. Diagnostics can take a few hours to a few days.
Boot loop repair
$100 – $250A constant Apple-logo boot loop can be caused by liquid, drops, technician error and more. Diagnostics can take a few hours to a few days.
No touch
$100 – $250The touchscreen stops working after impact, liquid damage, or any other reason.
Other errors
$100 – $250Other errors, including iTunes errors, can take a few hours to a few days to diagnose.
No power, not charging, not booting up repair
$100 – $250No power can be caused by liquid, impact, aftermarket chargers, or the USB fans sold almost everywhere. The USB fans short the charge-port IC chip, which stops the phone from powering on. Diagnostics can take a few hours to a few days.
No backlight repair
$80 – $100This can happen from hard impact, water damage, or an inexperienced tech replacing your screen. Shine a bright light at the screen and you can usually still see a faint image, but the display doesn't light up. Usually repaired the same day in about 1–2 hours.
No audio repair
$80Symptoms include: Siri doesn't work, FaceTime/loudspeaker greyed out, you can't hear through the ear speaker, can't record voice memos, the phone takes ~5 minutes to power on, or you can't hear anyone on calls. This audio-IC fault is very common on iPhone 7 / 7 Plus. Please note: this is a difficult repair and, in very rare cases, carries a risk of losing cell service. No fee is charged for the attempted repair, but we cannot reimburse or replace your device if cell service is lost afterward.
No image repair
$80 – $120Usually caused by hard impact or liquid damage — the iPhone powers on and works but there's no backlight or image. Sometimes a simple screen repair fixes it; many times it's a damaged backlight IC chip on the board. One way to tell the phone still works: connect it to a computer and open iTunes, which should detect the device.
No backlight repair
$60 – $100No backlight happens from hard impact, water damage, or a screen repair. Shining a bright light at the screen usually shows a faint display, but the screen doesn't light up.
No image
$80 – $100Causes range from hard impact and liquid damage to old age and overheating. Common symptoms: the device is on, you can hear notifications and feel vibration, iTunes can read it — but a bright light shows no faint image on the display.
No power, not charging
$90No power can be caused by liquid, impact, aftermarket chargers, or the USB fans sold almost everywhere, which short the charge-port IC chip and stop the phone from powering on.
Touchscreen issues (a.k.a. Touch Disease)
$60 – $80Fixes the touch display when it stops working, plus grey flickering bars across the top of the screen. Common on all iPhone 6 Plus models. Caused by impact or flexing of the frame, which loosens the touch-IC controller chip from the board.
No power, not charging
$60 – $100Can happen from hard impact, water damage, a screen repair, and on rare occasions on its own. This repair can take a few hours or a few days to diagnose and fix.
Half-backlight display
$60 – $100The half-backlight display can happen with hard impact, water damage, a screen repair, and on rare occasions on its own. This repair can take a few hours or a few days to diagnose and fix.
Touch ID failure after screen replacement
$60 – $100If the home-button cable isn't torn or punctured and Touch ID stopped working after a screen replacement, we may be able to fix it — most likely a shorted component on the board from replacing the screen with the battery still connected.
No image on screen but phone still works
$60 – $100A typical iPhone 6 repair where the LCD goes out by itself or from impact. Hard to diagnose, but it's often a backlight driver on the board that we can fix. Three main components make up the backlight driver, which can take a few hours just to diagnose.
iPhones with no image after a screen repair
$80 – $150Many cases are NOT repairable — usually from long-screw damage to the main board, when a tech mixes up the screws for the LCD shield and over-tightens. The longer screw digs into the board and breaks micro-traces internally. This is one of the hardest repairs; about 40% of the time it's technician error. If we determine it's just a backlight-driver rebuild, we can do the repair.
No power, not charging, etc.
$80 – $150Not charging, battery stuck at 1% or 5%, or rapid battery drain (1–5% per minute). A common repair caused by aftermarket chargers with incorrect voltage burning out the charging IC, though it can also happen from old age.
iPhone front and rear camera not working
$80 – $150Some cases come from liquid damage burning out a micro filter that controls the front and rear cameras. It can also occur from impact.
Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 / S4 boot-loop repair
$40Boot-loop repair on these devices is usually caused by a faulty home-button module. We remove and replace it with a brand-new part, which should fix the problem.

Board-repair terms
- Diagnostics for micro-soldering board repairs takes a lot of time. We charge a $40 diagnostics fee only if we cannot repair the device — no exceptions. Successful repairs are never charged a diagnostics fee.
- If a device isn't repairable, you have the option to donate it to Gelatotech, in which case we waive the $40 diagnostics fee no matter the device's condition.
- All successful micro-soldering repairs come with a 3-month warranty, excluding any water/liquid-damaged device.
- Micro-soldering requires a lot of high heat to complete a job. Not all devices are repairable, and in rare cases high heat can cause further damage. By getting your device repaired through Gelatotech you agree to all terms and conditions. Should your device become non-repairable or further damaged during repair, Gelatotech is not responsible and will not reimburse or replace any device for any reason. The customer is fully responsible for their device.
- Board-level repairs are not a 'quick' fix. They take special equipment, software, and skill to diagnose. Repairs can take 2–7 business days, and in rare cases 1–3 months. We do not do rush jobs — repairs are completed in the order they're received.
- Prices above are for 'no previous repair attempt' devices — never opened by a third party. Previous-repair-attempt jobs (e.g. a screen replacement gone wrong, often long-screw damage) cost more and are quoted separately. Contact us for a quote.
